Scunthorpe residents Andrew and Donna Clifford approached us last year with the idea of a baby memorial garden in our local Central Park.
After experiencing every parents worse nightmare, Andrew & Donna tragically lost their baby boy Rory when he was just nine days old, something no parent should ever have to go through, yet many sadly do. In the midst of their unbearable grief, they told us how a rainbow would always appear at the most poignant times, and they knew it was Rory letting them know he was ok.
This then led them to the idea of creating a bright positive and colourful place, where people enduring this unthinkable loss could commemorate and remember their babies in a positive way, as places such as the cremotariums are often far too painful and sad for them to do this.
We were incredibly moved by Andrew and Donnas story and their drive to do something for others going through the same pain as them: Our technical Guru wes smith set to designing a steel rainbow which would be big and sturdy enough to have a lasting impact, yet fit sympatically into its surroundings. With the help of our friends over at Angle Ring Company Ltd and our fantastic team, we produced the stunning rainbow you see in the photos.
SC4 were honoured to be part of such a wonderful local project, and I think you will all agree it truly is a beautiful space. We hope it brings a little comfort and solace to those in our local community who need it.
